About the event
There is much excitement here at the castle as the build-up is underway for when a crowd of Vikings will surge into the castle and set up camp to thrill everyone – and scare a few too!
As the real Vikings came in their dragon ships up the river Trent and the river Dove past the castle mound, it is quite a thought in the middle of all the fun that they really did come to this immediate area and raided a convent at nearby Hanbury before moving forward to Repton which was a major Viking site.
If you would like to meet the Swords of Penda, do come, and join us for our May Day Holiday celebrations.
Activities include:
Viking Camp with demonstrations of authentic crafts, skills, and pastimes.
Viking combat displays.
History Tours
Fairground
Plus, more!
Our pretty tearoom will be open all day selling a variety of reasonably priced hot and cold refreshments plus a range of stalls selling other foods.
We do recommend you buy your tickets in advance for this event.
